These precision shafts, developed and manufactured at our research and development facility just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, are an advancement embraced by some of the best carom players in the world. So, far, it does not sound like the LD properties are that much better than a standard Pred shaft? and yes, using outside English has great benefits too, especially when you need to hit it a little harder with draw. Welcome to the revolution introducing the Predator REVO 3C-S and 3C-U carbon fiber composite 3-Cushion shafts. I think you'd be better off going OB, Tiger, or other LD before shelling out big bucks for a REVO. Predator REVO shafts have even lower deflection than Predator spliced shafts and an even greater hit consistency, but they do feel somewhat different. Yes, yes and yes.īut, I don't care if the cue sounds like a "cat on a hot tin roof" as long as the balls go in the hole. Does it sound different, does it feel different, does it hit a little different. So, I kept the shaft and never looked back. I, unfortunately, was not one of them (consistently anyways). Oh, I know a TON of guys that make that shot with a maple shaft all day long and twice on Sunday. Make the ob, and spin cb around 3 or 4 rails for position of another ball near the bottom rail. With the ob on the rail, 1.5 diamonds from the pocket, and the cb down near the spot. The inside English shots were working great. I figured it I don't like it, I'd sell it and only lose $30 bucks or so. So, I bought an OB shaft to give it a go. At 50 years old, I still had problems with using inside English on certain shots, mainly long shots, but the mediocre once seem to ratter more often then I'd like. Your question is exactly why I decided to with a LD shaft. I'm not trying to make any point with this.just my observation. Whereas the C player with the Revo shaft may not play at their level, doesn't have the speed control and shape, but hits those big spin shots like hangers. Beautiful speed and shape most times, but miss the big shot requiring a lot of english. When I'm playing "old school" guys who play with standard maple shafts, and are very good players, I notice that when they really have to stroke the ball with english at a distance, they miss a lot more than they should. My Radial OB Curly, and Tiger LD Radial shaft all fit the Jacoby fine. I just purchased a Jacoby HB2 and both my Radial Revos fit perfectly, and do not come loose. Really, though, it is more about the consistency with which I can make shots using considerable english. Predator Revo shaft will not fit Jacoby butt with radial pin, unless specifically ordered. Ok, I can adjust a bit and kinda sorta play, but there are shots that I can make with the Predator that I simply cannot make with the regular shaft. However, *I* cannot make a ball using english. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Gilbert shaft and it hits wonderfully. I already played Predator when I bought the cue, so I got 1 314-2 shaft from Andy and 1 regular Gilbert shaft for completeness sake. Did he say *he* couldn't make it with his regular shaft, or did he say the shot cannot be made with a regular shaft? I have a nice Andy Gilbert cue. Make sure you are arguing against what the guy actually said.
